Prototyping

Prototyping refers to the creation of visual or interactive models of a product at various levels of detail – from simple low-fidelity mockups to clickable high-fidelity prototypes. It enables companies to test ideas early with real users and improve them iteratively, before costly development work begins.

Overcome challenges in the visualization and testability of product ideas

Companies often struggle to effectively translate their ideas into functional and appealing digital products. A common obstacle is the lack of visualization and early testability of concepts. Without clear and user-friendly prototypes, there is a risk that the end product will not meet user expectations, which can lead to frustration, higher costs and delayed time to market. Furthermore, design decisions can be difficult to communicate and argue internally. A precise and iterative prototyping phase is therefore crucial to overcome these challenges and ensure that the product meets the needs of the target group from the outset.

Creation of interactive prototypes for user-friendly web and app designs

Our prototyping services offer you the opportunity to transform ideas into visually appealing and functional prototypes of various levels of fidelity. We start with low-fidelity mockups that can be created and adapted quickly to visualize basic layouts and concepts. These serve as a basis for user feedback and early iterations. We then develop high-fidelity prototypes that showcase detailed interactions and visual designs. These advanced prototypes allow you to test the final user experience and ensure that all aspects of the design are optimized.

Our mockups and interactive prototypes are not only effective tools for communicating and arguing design decisions internally, but also for developing intuitive user interfaces and gathering initial user feedback in an agile manner. They provide a clear visual representation that makes it easier to communicate concepts and changes and gain stakeholder approval. Finally, high-fidelity prototypes serve as the perfect basis for implementing the website, as they provide clear instructions and visual guidelines for developers. With our expertise in prototyping, you can ensure that your product is not only intuitive to use, but also exceeds the expectations and requirements of your users.

FAQs

Prototyping is the creation of visual and interactive models of a product at various levels of detail. It enables companies to test concepts early, identify and fix problems before costly development work begins. This avoids misguided developments, shortens time-to-market and ensures user satisfaction from the start.

A lo-fi prototype (low fidelity) is a quick, rough representation of a concept, often as a paper sketch or simple digital wireframe. It is ideal for early phases, to test basic structures and flows without investing much time. A hi-fi prototype (high fidelity) is visually and interactively close to the finished product and is used when details, user flows or emotional reactions are to be tested. Rule of thumb: lo-fi as early as possible, hi-fi as late as necessary.

As early as possible: ideally already with the first concept ideas. A lo-fi paper prototype can be created in a few hours and enables immediate user tests. The cost of changes rises exponentially with each development stage: a change in the paper prototype costs minutes, the same change in the finished product can take weeks or months. This logic – test early, fail early, learn early – is the central advantage of iterative prototyping over classic waterfall development.

Yes. All phases of the prototyping process can be conducted on site as well as fully remotely or hybrid. We use proven design and collaboration tools to ensure smooth cooperation regardless of location.

The cost depends on the level of detail of the prototype, the scope of the test phases and the individual requirements. We would be happy to prepare a no-obligation quote tailored precisely to your project goals.
